I've heard of these Crust Buster type devices.
Are they worthwhile?

If you do a search (on the top right) for Crust Buster and/or Crustbuster, you'll see a couple of posts talking about them.

have one sell it 2 you, i use it every so often they do a good job when the padles work right. i use it on tanks with small lids when you cant work the hose well
