Has anyone on here had thier business get through an economically challanging time, like say the recession of the 80's? What was your experience? What happened when your area started to come out of the downturn?

The reason I am asking is that I would like to try to forcast where I might be with my buisness after the economy starts to build up again.

Obviously this is a different situation than ever before, and we all will have to wait and see, but I would really like to hear some stories......

To keep your business on an even keel and stay ahead of the curve, you might find helpful a white paper by Joel Smith on "A Well-Run Company Makes Money in Any Economy". This paper was presented at the 2008 Pumper Show in Louisville. You can download it for free at www.clearcomputing.com under Product Literature.

While it's impossible to predict the future with 100% accuracy, I think that the current slump in new home construction soon will be followed by a boom.

More and more people born in the 80's and early 90s are starting families, and they are going to need to move into larger houses. They have had to scrimp and save and stay in 1 BR apartments, but as the job market eases they will strongly feel the need to move into their own 3/2's. With current mortgage rates below 5%, this is the time for them to make the move.

And no, I'm not a real-estate agent :)
