I'm looking to possibly expand my business by offering to clean up sewage from under houses when pipes break, leak, etc.

What I'd like to know is how much you charge, how you leave the site. Do you drop visqueen (sp?) when you are done. How about a damage waiver if you have to drag your vacuum hose through the house?

Any insight would be great!

Up in my neck of the woods,it is mostly mobile homes that can have that problem, houses have foundations. Usually the environmental companies that do smoke and water damage or the mobile home maintence service companies handle soil contamination under homes. I recently had a call for mobile home that had pipe sag and leak,it had been going on for awhile. The home had only 12-18 inches of crawl space, muck and possibly maggots ,you have to wear a suit, maybe respirator to crawl into the goo. I didn't want to stick someone or myself in that situation. Homeowners insurance might cover it. I never heard back on that call.[ The renter requested soil replacement, sometimes a odor control can be put down on the contaminated area] It might have made sense to move the trailer home, cleanup or remove old soil, put back new soil and reinstall trailer. You should check OSHA regulations and see if any training available for those jobs. On second thought, call Bob Rowe at Dirty jobs,he probably has done it. plowking
