A local guy near me that pumps part time wants to sell. Sounds like he wants around 20,000 for everything. The pump truck is not much. Its an older truck a 1989 ford. 3,000gal tank. He has 460 customers. Would you pay that much?? I dont think its a bad deal and a good way to get my foot in the door. Thanks again.

What kind of ford, what engine, what pump, what kind of shape is it in, etc.? If it's in decent shape cosmetically and mechanically it should be worth close to that by itself.

It has the 7.8L 240hp ford diesel in it. Striahgt 6 speed tranny. I know its a jurop pump. Dont know the model or the CFM. In the last year he put all new drive tires on and did rear susp. work. I know this guy for years. I think the truck alone is worth that.

Im in the trucking business now. I own a 2006 Mack CV713 tri/axle dump truck. But i always wanted to pump. I ran a pumper for 4 years intill i bought my dump truck. So pumping is not new too me. I would like maybe to grow it and then maybe one day put a tank on my mack. Cuz there is alot more money in pumping then dump truckin.

Model is a f-800 forgot to add that in.

The truck alone is worth about that if it's in good running, operable condition. Factor in the customer list, the phone number, historical revenue/profit, any other ancillary equipment, and yes, it's well worth $20,000.

at wholesale that truck is prob worth about 10k. but, if he has a good reputation with those 500 customers its an excellent way to get your foot in the door.

Some old truck run forever.
Find out what he gross, where he dump, and what he pay to dump. Find out how many miles he drove last year. Estimate the truck will get 4 mpg divide that by the mileage per year and multiply by $4 to estimate you fuel. Use what you pay for a dump truck insurance to estimate the insurance cost…….. and just break it down to what it cost to run the truck. If you can pay the business / truck with the Profit/labor the first 6 month to a year, walk away. And get a 5 year No Compete contract

Dumping fees are .012 for holding tanks , .018 for septic and .088 for grease. I already talk to my insurance man. It will be around 2k less a year then my dump truck. I went and looked at the truck it is in alot better shape then i thought.

I did find out the pump is a jurop R260 360cfm. I did all the numbers and it will work out nice. One job he does pays him 715.00/month for 6,000 gallons. That should pay for all my fixed costs. I should be in the septic business by 8/1/11.

there are a few things in life that are certain. no matter how bad the economy is people will always eat which means they must take a dump which is what will always help keep us in business!

Looks good. You might think about keeping the cab green. There is an ocean of white trucks out there. If you have something just a little different, it can help to identify you. Just make sure you stick with the theme in everything you do.

You logo is very nice. You are off to a good start!

Looks like i will be 1 more white truck in a ocean lol. The reason i picked white is for 1 reason. I may be thinking ahead of my self. But if i get bigger and need to buy more trucks there are so many white ones sitting on the lot. I have to have a macthing fleet.

I painted the truck yesterday. I will up load a couple pics later today. It looks good. Its crazy what a couple coats of paint can do. I have about 21hours in the paint job. 12hrs sanding 4 hours masking and 5 hours spraying 2 coats of paint.

Here she is all painted up. The paint job turn out real good for 350 bucks and 21 hrs labor in it. And painting it in my driveway under a tree lol. Today i did my own house and went out to hit a 3,000gallon holding tank. It wasnt full only got about 1700 out of the holding tank. My own house is 1,000. So i had 2700gallons on the truck. Let me tell you the old 240hp ford knew it was back there. But it did do better then i thought it would.

your last picture is exactly perfect for my taste. a pump truck without a hose stuck in something is just another truck that aint making no money! all kidding aside, the truck looks awesome & will most likely be the best investment you will ever make.

Thanks. Im happy with how it turn out. I got about $1,250.00 in paint and decals. Looks like a diff. truck. For the better lol.

Anyway already ran into problems. I was doing my weekly holding tank job and i notice the truck was taking forever to fill up. So i pulled the hose out and stuck my hand on the end. Very little vacuum. WTF:mad:

I could hear a small vacuum leak. So i let the vaccum build up and shut the truck down. Then i pin point the leak. There was a hole in the back side of my Secondary. Its alittle smaller then a dime. So i got some duck tape out and put it over the hole. Worked like a champ. Got the job done.

Guess i will run into problems like these with a 22 year old set-up lol. I will fix it this weekend.

Good on you, Things look good for you. A question, whats the hose i see on your truck? is it tiger? do you like it? is it 3 inch?

Mackman
2011-09-29, 10:05 AM
Its just 3in vac. hose. I order it from www.varcopumper.com It came in like 3 or 4 colors.

Well more problems with the truck. I was getting alot of water in my sencondery. So i pulled off the primery. The cage was gone and the ball was somewhere in the tank. I fabed up a new cage and put it on. I order the wrong size ball. I got a 6in when it is an 8in.

New 8in ball should be here 2morrow. One thing after another with these old trucks. Good think it only runs part time. When i get busy in the next year or 2. I need a newer truck. The baffles on the insdie of the tank are laying on the floor. I guess after 20 years of being in water they just rot off. Kinda like the cage.

:) I do not think you can go wrong on that price for that truck. Make sure you get the names and adderess information for those customers, and be aware of the fact that just because he serviced them at least once, that they can be counted on as customers. Your first job should be to send a short letter to these potential customers that you have taken over the business and look forward to serving them in the future. Send a good letter, as it could determine whether or not these people call you. I would suggest including a refrigerator magnent with your letter! Make sure you weigh it at the post office before mailing--you don't want to get all those letters back because of insufficient postage. Good luck!

Just bought a newer pump truck. A 2002 Mack RD with a 3,360 gallon steel tank. Masport pump. The tank and pump are brand new. The truck has 215,000 miles. I sold my dump truck and im selling my old ford f-900. Its listed here on pumper. Anyone looking for a good used cheap truck let me know.
