Hello all,
While updating my blog today, I found a video of a homeowner who apparently discoverd a substantial hole in his back yard. It reminds me of the old seepage pits that were used with early septic systems and cesspools. What raises my question is that there's no block walls lining around the inside perimeter of this hloe - like you would expect to find on a seepage pit. Yet, the video shows there's a 3"' or 4" drain going into it.

Please take a look and see if you can determine what it is. I've never seen anything quite like this in the field and would be interested in any comments. Video: Old School - What is it? (http://drainbiz.blogspot.com/2008/02/video-old-school-what-is-it.html)

I would agree with the blog posting - I think it's an old dug well. The pipe helps to keep it full from the roof water. It looks like it's clean water in the hole, rather than sewage.
